The Rebco BO Lead-Filled Stem is a tubular steel barrel filled with lead to provide a higher weight per foot than an equivalent solid steel stem of the same outer diameter. This allows maximum downhole weight to be achieved within a restricted tool string OD, important in small tubing, high-pressure wells, or pressure survey applications where minimum cross-sectional area is critical. A 1½" OD lead-filled stem weighs approximately 35.8 lbs per 5 ft length, compared to 29.2 lbs for the equivalent solid steel bar. It is important to note that lead-filled stems must not be used in heavy-jarring applications; repeated shock loading can cause the lead fill to creep downward within the barrel, splitting the outer steel casing and rendering the stem unserviceable. Lead-filled stems are best suited for pressure survey runs and instrument deployment where jarring is not anticipated. Available in standard threaded connections, 1¼"–2½" OD.

Important: Lead-filled stems must not be used in jarring applications. Repeated shock loading will cause the lead fill to creep and split the outer barrel.
