BR Soft Release Running Tool Assembly

The Rebco BR Soft Release Running Tool is used to transport and land instrument hanger assemblies, primarily in BHP (Bottom Hole Pressure) recording applications, into their corresponding landing nipple profiles. The "soft release" designation means the BR releases from the instrument hanger via a controlled, non-jarring mechanism, which is critical when deploying sensitive electronic pressure and temperature recording instruments that cannot tolerate the shock loads associated with jar-down or jar-up release methods.

An important operational note applies specifically to ROTS and ROTTS Lock Mandrel types when run with the BR: these mandrels must be run with their up-facing Dogs trailing (rather than leading), require a ROTA Shank to collapse the downfacing Dogs prior to running, and demand a 100–150 lb. upward pull to activate the tool during setting. Failure to observe these requirements can prevent proper setting or damage the lock mandrel sub-assembly. Available in nominal sizes 1.900" to 3½".
