CH & CF Hydrostatic Bailer Assembly
The Rebco Hydrostatic Bailer is a single-run debris recovery tool that operates by harnessing the pressure differential between the well's own bottomhole pressure and an atmospheric-pressure chamber sealed within the tool body. The tool is run into the well with the chamber at atmospheric pressure, sealed at the surface before deployment. When the tool reaches the target debris accumulation and the operator applies a downward jar blow, an internal shear pin is cut, releasing a piston that is instantly driven upward by the higher wellbore pressure acting on its lower face. The rapid upward movement of the piston creates a strong inward suction at the tool's open bottom, drawing sand, scale, fine debris, and wellbore solids into the collection chamber in a single surge. As bottomhole pressure equalizes within the sealed chamber, an internal ball valve seats automatically, closing the entry port and retaining the collected material securely for surface retrieval.
The Hydrostatic Bailer is particularly effective in wells where conventional pump-action bailers (sand pump bailers) cannot generate sufficient suction to lift debris, most commonly when the debris has compacted tightly on top of a downhole tool, when debris particle sizes are too large for a pump-type tool, or when the wellbore fluid viscosity is too high for piston-pump operation. Because the bailer's driving force is bottomhole pressure itself rather than mechanical pump action, performance actually improves in higher-pressure wells.
Available with either a ball-bottom shoe (CH) or flapper-bottom shoe (CF) for different debris types and wellbore conditions. An optional combined flapper-mule shoe (CFM) is also available for wells where the debris surface is irregular or the approach angle to the target requires a guided entry. Available in 1-5/16"–3" OD.
Caution: Wellbore pressure remains stored inside the collection chamber when the tool is retrieved to the surface. The pressure must be fully bled off before opening the bailer's bottom for debris recovery. Failure to bleed pressure before opening will cause sudden, uncontrolled release of pressurized wellbore fluid and debris.
