Modified PORN & POXN Test Tool Plug Assembly

The Rebco Modified PORN and POXN Test Tool Plug Assembly is a two-component pressure barrier system: a Lock Mandrel and a Prong, used to create a robust, retrievable plug in bottom No-Go type Landing Nipples for pressure testing. The assembly holds pressure only from above, achieved by orienting the V-Packing on both the Lock Mandrel and the Prong upward so they seal against downward-acting test pressure from the surface.

The two-component design, which runs Lock Mandrel and Prong separately, provides operational flexibility that a single-body plug does not. The Lock Mandrel can be run first and set in the nipple independently (using a Running Tool, followed by a Check Set Tool to confirm proper key setting), and the Prong is then run into the set mandrel separately on an SB Pulling Tool. Alternatively, when the Lock Mandrel keys are not used, the Prong can be pre-assembled into the mandrel and the entire assembly run in one trip on an SB Pulling Tool. The extra-long Prong option is a notable feature: by extending below the Lock Mandrel, the long Prong acts as a stand-off, keeping the base of the plug assembly clear of sand or scale accumulation at the nipple base. This significantly reduces the risk of the assembly becoming stuck and difficult to retrieve after the pressure test, a common operational hazard in wells with sand or scale production.

Retrieval is a two-stage process: the Prong is pulled first (using an SB Pulling Tool), then the Lock Mandrel is retrieved separately (using a ROTGS Pulling Tool). In clean wells, the complete assembly, Lock Mandrel and Prong together, is sometimes recovered in a single pull.

How to Order: Product Code 14. Specify the Lock Mandrel type (PORN for ROTR/ROTRN nipples; POXN for ROTX/ROTXN nipples), size, and desired Prong length. State whether keys are required. Contact Rebco to specify the profile type and all component parameters.
