A Gauge Cutter
The Rebco A Gauge Cutter is a multi-functional tool engineered for various wireline applications. Its primary function is to remove paraffin, corrosion, and other foreign materials from the internal diameter (ID) of the tubing string. The Gauge Cutter is also used to gauge and tag obstructions within the tubing and to locate and tag landing nipples in the wellbore.
Product Code: 106
Applications
Mandatory pre-job first run to verify tubing bore condition before deploying any subsurface controls.
Removal of paraffin wax, scale, mineral deposits, and debris from the tubing ID
Locating and depth-referencing landing nipples, collar profiles, and no-go restrictions
Confirming total depth and tubing condition before running pressure gauges or instruments
Profiling bridge obstructions by running progressively smaller cutters to map restriction geometry
Key Benefits
Cleans, gauges, and profiles the tubing bore in a single run, saving rig time.
Prevents costly downhole tool damage by confirming bore condition before every intervention
Available in ¾"–6⅝" OD range to cover all standard tubing and casing sizes
Standard wireline thread pin connection and fishing neck on all sizes
Custom ODs available for non-standard tubing or casing applications
Note: It is strongly recommended that a Gauge Cutter be run prior to deploying any subsurface controls. This ensures that the controls can pass freely through the tubing without obstruction.
Gauge Cutters are available in custom sizes within the nominal outside diameter (OD) range. For size options, refer to Table 1.
