    Glossary EO & ED Accelerator Assembly EO & ED Accelerator Assembly EO Accelerator (Threaded) The Rebco EO Accelerator is a large coil spring assembly placed between the rope socket and the stem in the tool string. Its purpose is to store energy as line tension is applied at the surface and release it simultaneously when the hydraulic or spring jar fires, significantly increasing the speed and impact intensity of the upstroke blow. The accelerator is most important at shallow depths, where the wireline has very little elastic stretch of its own to help activate the jar. At shallow depths, without an accelerator, the operator may need to apply dangerously high line tensions to activate the jar, risking pulling the wire from the rope socket or breaking the wireline. The accelerator's spring compresses over a distance greater than the jar mandrel travel required to fire, ensuring the jar activates reliably under a controlled line tension. Additionally, the accelerator helps maintain a constant pull on the wireline as the jar opens, preventing premature loss of tension that would reduce impact force. The operator determines the optimal position in the tool string to achieve the best effect. Available in standard threaded connections, 1¼"–2½" OD. ED Accelerator (RQLD) The Rebco ED Accelerator is the RQLD quick-lock version of the Rebco EO , delivering the same spring energy storage and impact intensification as the Rebco EO , with Rebco 's double-shoulder Quick Lock System connection for faster field assembly.     Glossary JDC Pulling Tool (Short Reach) Assembly JDC Pulling Tool (Short Reach) Assembly The Rebco JDC is a shear-down, short-reach pulling tool designed to retrieve sub-surface devices with external fishing necks in applications where the fishing neck is positioned close to the top of the device, meaning a shorter reach is both sufficient and preferred. The JDC engages the external fishing neck by allowing its dogs to snap over and behind the fishing neck shoulder as the tool is lowered over the device. Once latched, upward tension on the wireline lifts the device from its set position. If the device is stuck and cannot be freed, a firm downward jar stroke shears the internal shear pin, collapsing the dogs inward and releasing the JDC from the fishing neck, allowing the tool string to be retrieved without the device. The short-reach configuration of the JDC means the distance between the bottom of the core and the dog-engaging surface is intentionally minimized, making the JDC the correct choice when the gap between the top of the landing nipple and the fishing neck is small, or when working in completions with closely spaced nipples where a long-reach tool risks engaging the wrong fishing neck. Changing the core is all that is required to obtain a different reach within the same nominal size; no full tool replacement is necessary. Available in nominal sizes 1¼" through 4", engaging fishing neck ODs from 0.875" to 3.125". Alloy construction throughout.     Glossary GS Pulling Tool Assembly GS Pulling Tool Assembly The Rebco ROTGS is a shear-down pulling tool specifically engineered for sub-surface devices with internal fishing necks, those in which the fishing neck is machined into the device's inner bore rather than projecting above it. Rather than dogs that snap over an external shoulder, the ROTGS uses a core or prong assembly that enters the bore of the sub-surface device and latches onto the internal fishing neck from the inside. This fundamental difference in engagement geometry makes the ROTGS incompatible with external fishing neck devices and vice versa; the correct pulling tool family must always be matched to the fishing neck type. Once the ROTGS core is fully inserted and latched inside the internal fishing neck, upward tension retrieves the device. If the device is stuck, a downward jar shears the internal pin, allowing the core to retract and disengage from the internal fishing neck, freeing the ROTGS for retrieval to the surface. The ROTGS is the primary pulling tool for retrieving gas lift valves, dummy valves, and other devices with internal (bore-type) fishing necks, commonly used in side-pocket mandrel and selective completion applications. The reach for internal fishing neck pulling tools is measured as the distance the core must travel before it latches, a critical factor, since the core must travel far enough into the device bore to reach and engage the internal fishing neck recess.     Glossary A Tubing Swage A Tubing Swage The Rebco A Tubing Swage is a hardened-steel tool engineered to reform and restore lightly collapsed, dented, or otherwise constricted sections of tubing, thereby allowing wireline tools, subsurface controls, and completion equipment to pass through freely. When a section of tubing is mechanically deformed, whether from wellhead loads, surface handling damage, parted tubulars, or partial collapse from external pressure, the resulting restriction can prevent tools from reaching their target depth or trap tools already downhole. The Swage restores that bore without requiring a workover rig or tubing pull. The OD of the tool is machined to the drift diameter of the tubing in which it is to be run, the same standard used to qualify tubing for downhole tools during manufacture. Both the upper and lower ends of the Swage are tapered to ease entry into the restriction and provide gradual reforming action as the tool is jarred through. A central bore with lateral porting allows wellbore fluid to bypass through the tool body as it transits the tight section, preventing hydraulic lock from stalling or trapping the tool at the restriction. Because the swage must be forced through the constriction using downward jarring, upward jarring capability must also be included in the tool string to recover the swage in the event it becomes lodged. Available in standard threaded and Type C box-bottom connections, ¾"–6⅝" OD. Custom sizes available on special order. Important: Always include upward jarring capability in the tool string when running a Tubing Swage. If the swage becomes lodged in the restriction, jar-up capability is the primary recovery method. Running without jar-up risks leaving the swage trapped in the tubing. How to Order: Part Number is 10700x.xxx (0 prefix for ODs less than 1.00").     Glossary RQHS Hook Type Quick Lock System RQHS Hook Type Quick Lock System The Rebco RQHS Hook Type Quick Lock System is a time-saving connection system that eliminates the need for conventional threaded make-up of the tool string during multi-well BHP survey campaigns. The RQHS replaces standard threaded pin-and-box connections at the instrument interface with a hook-type quick lock connector that can be engaged and disengaged rapidly without the use of wrenches or spinning connections. This provides a meaningful efficiency gain when the same instrument must be deployed in well after well in a multi-well survey program. The RQHS is offered in two types: Type A (pin connection to RQHS hook) and Type B (box connection to RQHS hook), each available in both 15/16"–10 and Amerada ¾"–16 connection sizes. Combined Pin-to-Box assemblies bridging the two connection types are also available. The RQHS is manufactured in three materials — Stainless Steel, Alloy, and Inconel® — with maximum pull ratings of 1,600 lbs (Stainless), 2,100 lbs (Alloy), and 2,700 lbs (Inconel®), respectively. Important Caution: The RQHS is a convenience tool and is not designed for jarring. Jarring should be strictly avoided when the RQHS is in the tool string. The hook can stretch to failure at loads below the rated maximum if subjected to impact loads rather than sustained tension. How to Order: Specify Type A (pin) or Type B (box), connection size (15/16"–10 or ¾"–16), and material (Stainless, Alloy, or Inconel®).     Glossary A, AD & Type BO, BD Wax Knife and Wire Brush A, AD & Type BO, BD Wax Knife and Wire Brush A Wax Knife (Product Code 117) The Rebco Wax Knife is a wireline-conveyed paraffin cutting tool designed to mechanically sever paraffin wax accumulations that have built up on the inner wall of the tubing string to a degree that restricts flow or prevents wireline tools from reaching total depth. Unlike a Gauge Cutter, which scrapes loose soft deposits from the bore wall, the Wax Knife uses hardened cutting edges to slice through and break apart thick, consolidated wax plugs or heavy paraffin buildups that cannot be dislodged by scraping alone. The tool is run through the wellbore and alternately raised and lowered with jarring action to cut through the accumulation in progressive passes. Multiple passes with progressively larger tools are used to restore bore clearance when the initial accumulation is severe. The Wax Knife is typically used in combination with a Wire Brush for a complete tubing cleaning program. A Wire Brush (Product Code 117) The Rebco Wire Brush is a wireline-conveyed tubing cleaning tool designed to remove soft paraffin deposits, scale films, and packing debris from the internal diameter of the tubing bore, nipple profiles, and other completion equipment prior to running subsurface controls. The tool body is a steel bar with a series of drilled holes at varying intervals along its length, through which wire brush cable segments are inserted and secured with grub screws. The protruding wire cable loops create an abrasive cylindrical brush profile that engages the tubing wall as the tool is run up and down through the bore, dislodging and loosening soft deposits that would otherwise interfere with the engagement or sealing performance of lock mandrels, plugs, safety valves, and other downhole controls. The Wire Brush is particularly valuable for cleaning nipple profiles before running any device that requires a precise, clean seating or locking surface. Deposits in the profile grooves can prevent tools from setting correctly or cause them to set partially, with serious consequences during production operations. The tool is typically used as a first pass before the Gauge Cutter when moderate to heavy soft deposit buildup is expected, allowing the Gauge Cutter to perform its gauging and profiling function on a pre-cleaned bore. An internal bearing shaft between the upper and lower body allows the tool string to rotate freely below the swivel, even under significant load, without transmitting torsional stress back up to the wireline. This is especially critical when using wedge or teardrop-style rope sockets, which, by design, prevent the wire from rotating at the termination point. Without a swivel, accumulated wire twist can cause tool string components to unscrew downhole during extended jarring operations. It is important to note that a swivel joint is not interchangeable with a knuckle joint; a swivel provides rotation under load with only 1°- 5° of lateral movement, while a knuckle joint provides 15° of angular movement but is not designed to rotate under load.     Glossary Equalizing Sub-Assemblies - Accessories Equalizing Sub-Assemblies - Accessories The accessories in Section XV are the individual components that combine with the equalizing and bottom sub-assemblies to complete each assembly configuration. The A Cage and B Cage are the outer housing components that contain the valve, bean, or ball and seat mechanism in each respective sub-assembly; the A Cage is used in circulating applications, and the B Cage is used in choke and bean applications. The API Cross Over Mandrel is the connecting component that adapts between the Lock Mandrel body thread and the Seal Unit, allowing different lock mandrel and nipple combinations to be used with the same circulating or choke bottom assemblies. The AO Bean and BT Bean are the calibrated flow restriction inserts used inside the A Cage and B Cage, respectively, and are available in 1/64" orifice increments, giving the operator precise control over flow restriction without replacing the entire subassembly. The K Equalizing Shear Plug is a safety device that incorporates a shear element, allowing the equalizing pathway to be opened by applying a specific overpull force on the wireline, providing a backup equalization method if the primary prong-actuated equalization fails or is not accessible.     Glossary ROTRNS Soft Set Bomb (Instrument) Hanger Assembly ROTRNS Soft Set Bomb (Instrument) Hanger Assembly The Rebco ROTRNS Soft Set Bomb Instrument Hanger is fundamentally different from the instrument hangers described above. While the ROTFSB , ROH , XOH , and their counterparts all require jarring to set the lock mandrel within the nipple profile, the ROTRNS is a "soft set" hanger, meaning it locks itself within the ROTR or ROTRN Landing Nipple profile through controlled mechanical or hydraulic running tool engagement, without any jarring at all. This jar-free setting characteristic is the defining advantage of the ROTRNS : sensitive electronic or mechanical recording instruments that cannot tolerate impact shock can be deployed safely and reliably without any risk of damage from set-down jarring. The ROTRNS requires a dedicated soft-release running tool, either the ROTHR Hydraulic Soft Release Running Tool or the ROTMR Mechanical Soft Release Running Tool, with the choice between hydraulic and mechanical left to the operator based on well conditions and operational preference. Retrieval is accomplished using the ROTGR Pulling Tool with a matched Pulling Prong specific to the nominal size. The ROTRNS Hanger Sub lower connection uses a ¾"–16 Box Thread (Amerada) as standard, with 15/16"–10 available on request. Available in nominal sizes 2⅜" through 4½", covering seal bore sizes from 1.875" to 3.813". All assemblies comply with NACE MR-01-75 for sour service.     Glossary SB Pulling Tool (Short Reach) Assembly SB Pulling Tool (Short Reach) Assembly The Rebco SB is a shear-down, short-reach pulling tool for external fishing necks and is one of the most frequently used pulling tools in routine wireline operations. Functionally, the SB performs the same retrieve-and-release operation as the JDC , but features a different core and dog geometry that makes it the preferred tool for a specific set of sub-surface device fishing neck profiles, most notably those on FO Collar Stops (Product Code 110), SS Tubing Slip Stops (Product Code 164), and similar devices that are routinely run and pulled as part of BHP survey and production optimization work. The SB 's short-reach core keeps the engagement zone close to the top of the tool, making it well-suited for devices that sit at or near the top of the nipple profile once set. A downward jar releases the shear pin and collapses the dogs if the device cannot be freed by normal tension. The core-and-nut design of the SB allows straightforward field replacement of the core to adjust reach, extend service life, or accommodate different fishing neck ODs within the same nominal tool size. Available in nominal sizes 1" through 4", engaging fishing neck ODs from 0.687" to 3.125". Alloy construction with dedicated Pinning Tool Assembly, Releasing Tool, Core Wrench, and Core Nut Wrench accessories for each size range.
